Furry bed buddies

I never know what I'm going to find when I check on the boys before I go to bed. Levi might be off his bed entirely or only have his feet on the bed. Sometimes he's sleeping in the little crevice between his mattress and the wall. This picture was too cute! I usually "put his friends to bed" with him each night and naptime as a little routine. But I think he arranged them "just so" this particular night.

Chutes and Ladders - a new find!

My cousin Ken needed a ride to the airport this morning so I decided it was time to take a break from school. I mean, I think we really needed it! We've been at it two whole days! (Maybe it was I who needed it). Anyway, the girls went on with regular school plans/activities, and after dropping Ken off, we headed to a park I'd been told about by a friend. This is what we found!

We had the whole place to ourselves for a good 25 minutes or so. And then lots of other little people showed up.

This climbing wall was Levi's favorite spot. DJ really enjoyed the long, long slide!

Kade had to settle for the baby park. But the steps provided lots of fun for him!

I can't wait to take some very special out-of-town-guests there...someday! Like cousins Kylee and Zane. What fun.

Found: apples

In our town. Near a lake. By a trail. An apple tree. Loaded. For the taking. We made lots of applesauce and froze it. They're not great eating apples, but they make wonderful apple crisp and the flavor of the applesauce is delicious.

May I present to you...

our very first tomato. Wouldn't you say I've had to be very patient? It's September and we're getting out our coats and hats! :)

Bakken Adventure

There was a detour. DJ groaned. I admired old Minneapolis neighborhoods. We were lost. Finally, I found it...2 gas stations later. Another museum with passes checked out at our local library. The Bakken is a museum about magnetism and electricity with some pretty amazing displays and hands-on activities.

The "Mind Game" was challenging. To win, you must....relax. That's it! It's harder said than done (especially while holding a 10 month old and keeping an eye on a 2 year old). Somehow the head gear picks up brain waves and the one who is most relaxed has the ball head toward the opponent's side. Needless to say, DJ beat me.

Something new

I've never had a perm and thought I'd try it...why not? I've always been scared to try one. Kent actually suggested it as he kind of likes curly hair. So here it is...24 hours new.

Kade's the chef

I love spoons to chew on as I now have almost four teeth! I'm 10 1/2 months old and weigh 17 pounds. I'm crawling, pulling myself up on everything, loving any bit of solid food mom will give me, sharing my opinion, and trying to say "mama."
